![]() The St. Louis Cardinals have made the first big trade before next week’s deadline, acquiring Matt Holliday from the Oakland A’s for Brett Wallace and two other Minor Leaguers. The addition of Holliday should provide Albert Pujols with some protection in the middle of the St. Louis lineup. The Cardinals are hoping to test out that new lineup in sports odds on Saturday at 4:05pm EST against the Philadelphia Phillies in a nationally televised game on FOX. The Cardinals send Kyle Lohse to the mound on Saturday while Philadelphia counters with Rodrigo Lopez in MLB betting odds. Lohse is 4-6 on the season with a 4.21 ERA. He pitched well in his last outing, his second since coming off the DL and he has pitched well in his career against the Phillies with a 3.41 ERA in six starts. MLB betting odds have the Phillies -125 at home against the Cardinals +115 in baseball betting odds with a total of 10 OVER -120. Lopez is 2-0 with a 2.60 ERA. He has pitched well but could lose his spot in the rotation when Pedro Martinez is ready. Lopez has allowed just five runs in his three starts. The attention in MLB odds on Saturday will be on Holliday who the Cardinals got from the A’s. If you think St. Louis didn’t give up a lot to get Holliday you would be wrong. Wallace was the Cardinals first-round pick in the 2008 Draft and is considered a future fixture at third base. The other two players are potential starters as well. The Holliday deal was the second for the Cardinals in recent days. That just got Julio Lugo from the Red Sox. St. Louis is hoping that Lugo can give them some stability at short. "Sometimes it's good to have a change of scenery, and I'm happy to be here," Lugo said. "I'm thrilled to be here on a first-place team." Vegas MLB betting odds at the MGM Mirage sportsbook have the Phillies -135 favorites against the Cardinals +115 with a betting total of 9.5 UNDER -115.
