![]() The Seattle Mariners will try to recover from an epic collapse yesterday when they gave up five runs in the 9th inning to lose to Baltimore 5-3 in MLB odds. Seattle faces a critical series against the Texas Rangers on Thursday at 10:10pm EST before the All-Star break as a winning series would keep them within striking distance in the American League West but a losing series could push them out of the race before the break. The Mariners haven’t won a game so far this season in MLB odds against the Rangers in five tries so this weekend series is big. The Mariners rested Ken Griffey Jr. on Thursday and put right fielder Ichiro Suzuki into the DH spot. Neither move worked out well as Ichiro did nothing as the DH while Griffey made the last out of the game as a pinch hitter. Ichiro is leading the league in batting average (.358) and hits (119). MLB odds have the Mariners -177 at home against the Rangers +157 in baseball betting odds with a total of 8 EVEN. Ichiro is one of two Mariners headed to the All-Star game. Thursday’s starting pitcher Felix Hernandez is the other. Hernandez is 8-3 on the season with a 2.62 ERA. He was the American League's Pitcher of the Month for June. Tommy Hunter gets the call for Texas on Thursday. He is 1-1 with a 3.18 ERA this season. Hunter allowed just one run in 5 1/3 innings against Tampa Bay in his last outing to get his first Major League win. He has allowed three runs or less in all of his three starts.
