John Deere Classic betting gets underway on Thursday with defending champion Kenny Perry the 9-1 favorite at Bodog sportsbook. The Golf Channel will provide live coverage on Thursday and Friday with CBS picking up the action on Saturday and Sunday. The obvious choice in John Deere Classic betting this week is Kenny Perry. Perry won the tournament last year and has never been out of the Top 25 in eight appearances in the event. There are 12 other golfers with golf odds of less than 50-1 at Bodog led by Steve Stricker and David Toms at 14-1 each. Two other golfers should also get attention in John Deere Classic betting. U.S. Open winner Lucas Glover is 18-1 and Zach Johnson, who has already won twice this year, is 18-1. Stricker has a total of eleven Top-25 finishes in 14 starts this year including a win and five other Top-10 finishes. After winning the U.S. Open, Glover finished tied for 11th at the Travelers and tied for 5th last week. John Deere betting odds at Bodog sportsbook have Kenny Perry 9-1. A few longshots to consider in golf betting are Ryan Moore who has finished no worse than tied for 11th in his last three starts. He is 28-1 at Bodog. Bryce Molder has finished in the Top 25 in his last four events and he is a nice longshot at 50-1. Scott Verplank has six Top 25 finishes in 15 events his year and he is 33-1 at Bodog sportsbook. The hometown favorite this week in John Deere Classic betting has to be Zach Johnson. Although he has missed the cut twice in six starts in this event and had finishes of 20th, 36th, 33rd and 69th, he loves this course and the event. He has called it is fifth major. If you want to bet on John Deere Classic golf odds, Bodog sportsbook has the Field at 5-1. “I try to treat it like any other week, but it’s not,” Johnson said. “It’s a highlight on my schedule. Certainly I love coming back, regardless of how I play.” Johnson is on the tournament’s board of directors. The tournament director, Clair Peterson, gave Johnson a sponsor’s exemption in 2003. “He kept calling me Mr. Peterson,” Peterson said. “I said, 'Zach, you don’t need to be doing that.’ Now he calls me Clair.”
