Confederations Cup Odds USA vs Brazil - Can the USA Shock the World Again?

USA vs Brazil - 2:30pm EST on ESPN

Brazil is a heavy favorite in Confederations Cup odds to win their second consecutive title as they play the USA on Sunday at 2:30pm EST on ESPN but they know that if they play as they did against South Africa in the semifinals they could be in trouble. Brazil got a late goal from substitute Daniel Alves to defeat South Africa 1-0 on Thursday and barely covered the -500 money line in Confederation Cup odds. "They surprised us," midfielder Ramires said. "We knew they were going to defend well and mark well from the beginning, but we didn't expect the kind of intensity they had."

Brazil’s talented duo of Kaka and Robinho were held in check by South Africa and Luis Fabiano did nothing. "There was no space anywhere," Fabiano said "Everywhere we went there was someone right there with us." Left back Andre Santos and right back Maicon were not any better. "They filled in the spaces pretty quickly and that made things harder for us," Brazil head coach Dunga said. Confederation Cup odds have Brazil -1 (-155) against the USA +1 (+115) with a Draw +305 and a betting total of 2.5 UNDER -135 in soccer odds. Brazil routed the USA 3-0 in the group stage but things could be different on Sunday in the rematch. The United States is coming off one of the biggest victories in their history as they upset #1 Spain to end the Spaniards’ 35-match unbeaten streak.

If the USA can withstand the early Brazil pressure it could be an entertaining match. They couldn’t do that the first time the teams met. "It was different because of the goal in the beginning of the match," Dunga said. "They had to attack more, normally they don't do that." In that first match it was Maicon, Robinho and Felipe Melo scoring for Brazil. "I think they learned from the first match against us," Kaka said. "It's going to be much harder this time around." Brazil is trying to become only the second team to win consecutive Confederations Cup titles, along with France. For the USA to win in Confederation Cup odds on Sunday they will have to get over the euphoria of the Spain victory.

“I'm still in a bit in disbelief to be honest,” United States defender Carlos Bocanegra said, “We're in the final of a major competition. It really hasn't sunk in yet that it has happened.” Bocanegra missed the first games in Confederation Cup odds with an injury but returned for the Spain match. He and his teammates will need to play even better than they did against Spain and get another great performance from goaltender Tim Howard if they are to shock the Brazil team on Sunday.
