The first rule in dealing with the maniac at an online poker table is to not get frustrated. A major part of the success that so many online casino poker maniacs have is their ability to get into the heads of even the best Texas Holdem players and throw them off of their normal games, and tripping them into mistakes with even solid hands. Solid players that allow themselves to become frustrated with maniacs will live to regret it and end up broke. The key when playing against an online poker maniac is to know when to make that stand. Marginal poker hands such as medium pairs that can either be outdrawn or lose in a showdown should not be the hands that a player makes a stand with against a maniac. It requires patience but also serves to set up the maniac for when you really do have strong poker hands. The maniac will often fall right into the trap as he will be nearly thrilled with his initial success at bullying the poker table. This strategy requires discipline and a cool head but that is the very essence of what a successful online poker player must possess when up against the maniacs that he is likely to encounter. Wait for those Aces, Kings, Queens, AK hands and then take the maniac down. Part of the maniac’s advantage is that they are so completely unpredictable and refuse to acknowledge or abide by any poker rules of logical strategy or play. The best way for an online poker player to read a maniac is to not try and read too much into them, to concentrate more on their own hands and reads rather than worry about the maniac’s antics. While a maniac strikes undeniable fear and frustration among many otherwise solid online poker players he cannot overcome and defeat them in the long run if they concentrate on the basic fundamentals of Texas Holdem such as poker hands, board reads, and positioning. Once a maniac blows a large portion of his chip stack to an online poker player that picked his spot, he will then be exposed as the habitual raiser that he always was and will likely get himself knocked out of the game very quickly.
