Basic Texas Holdem Tips Playing Online Poker

When you are playing Texas Holdem at online poker rooms, you want to know as much as possible about the game you are playing.

When you are playing Texas Holdem at online poker sites you want to know as much as possible about the game you are playing.

There are a few basic tips to keep in mind. The first tip to winning at Texas Holdem is to play correct starting hands. Most new players play way too many hands.

Another tip to remember when playing Texas Holdem at online poker rooms is defending your blinds too much. A lot of people believe that since their money is already in the pot they have to play. You don’t need to always call when you have nothing.

Also keep in mind that the flop is where the main decisions in Texas Holdem poker are made.

The flop really makes or breaks your hand. Most of your decisions need to be based on the three cards on the board and the two in your hand and not what might happen on the turn or river.

As you consider these Texas Holdem tips remember that you really need a strong hand to play from an early position. Early position is considered the three spots to the left of the big blind. Middle positions are the next three while the last three are in late position.

In early position you need strong Texas Holdem starting hands like AA, KK, QQ, JJ, 1010, or AK, AQ. Not much else is worth playing in a bad position. In middle position you can open it up a little bit more and play mid pairs and hands like A10, AJ.

In late position you have much more flexibility and can play small pairs, most suited hands, and suited connectors.

As you look at the flop in Texas Holdem poker keep in mind that if your hand does not show good potential, meaning top pair or straight or flush draw, you should fold if someone bet before you did. Once the turn comes if you think you have the best hand, bet it.

You also want to remember that many players stay in the hand too long. More often than not you will be throwing money away by drawing for the straight or the flush. As you get to the river you should know what to do.

If you have any chance of winning the hand, then obviously the choice is to bet or call. The river is also the opportunity to bluff in Texas Holdem, but you better be very sure because most of the time it won’t work.

As you play Texas Holdem at online poker sites remember the basics. Keep your game simple in the beginning until you gain experience and even then remember these tips. They will keep you out of trouble and give you a better chance to win.
