One of the interesting longshots on Saturday in Belmont Stakes odds is Jenny Craig’s horse Chocolate Candy.

One of the interesting longshots on Saturday in Belmont Stakes odds is Jenny Craig’s horse Chocolate Candy.

With Hall of Fame trainer Jerry Hollendorfer and superstar jockey Garrett Gomez there is a lot to like about Chocolate Candy in Belmont Stakes betting.

Hollendorfer is the best trainer never to have won a Triple Crown race. Most of his horses are in Northern California and Hollendorfer has not had a lot of chances in big races. He has won almost 5,400 races in his career, 377 of them stakes victories.

Hollendorfer is simply a legend in the Bay Area as he won every single training title from 1986 to 2008. Hollendorfer has really not had a lot of chances in Triple Crown races so Chocolate Candy could be his best one. "I just do the best I can with whatever horses I have, and I think I don't have a whole lot to prove," Hollendorfer said.

"I mean, everybody would like to win a Triple Crown race. It would lend a lot of credibility to anybody's career so ... it would certainly lend to mine if I could win the Belmont."

Chocolate Candy is a very talented horse that can win in Belmont Stakes betting. He finished sixth in his first two career starts but has only been off the board once since.

"I think he ranks right up there," Hollendorfer said, "He's a beautiful-looking horse, and he covers a lot of ground. If I can get a little luck, I think he'll run real good in the Belmont."

Chocolate Candy is not a solid closer which is a good thing in Belmont Stakes odds since deep closers rarely win.

"He did get squeezed a little at the start in the Derby, so he was a little more off the pace than we wanted him to be," Hollendorfer said. "I thought Chocolate Candy was one the best horses I've tried to take into the Triple Crown races. I hope he validates that on June 6."

Chocolate Candy’s pedigree looks solid. Her sire, Candy Ride is off to a very nice start at stud and Chocolate Candy is by the Seattle Slew mare Crownette.

There are a lot of betting longshots for Saturday in Belmont Stakes betting including Chocolate Candy but unlike some of the others, Chocolate Candy has a lot of positives going for him and can win this race.
