When you are playing Texas Holdem you will get an argument from many players that the third best starting hand is ace-king suited.

When you are playing Texas Holdem online poker you will get an argument from many players that the third best starting hand is ace king suited.

Aces and kings are the top two starting hands and technically, queens, jacks and even 10’s are better starting hands but a lot of players would rather have ace king suited than anything but aces or kings.

It is a great hand to raise with and although it is not a made hand it gives you a lot of excellent possibilities after the flop.

When you get ace king suited you have a variety of options before the flop.

You can raise with this hand since it has a lot of post flop power if you get a good flop. You can limp in with this hand because it is such a strong drawing hand. You can also call raises with this hand since you could be in very nice shape after the flop.

It is rarely a hand in which you fold before the flop. One thing you do need to remember about ace king suited is that it is not a made hand. It is the best starting hand for a draw though.

You could easily be drawing for the nut flush, straight, or top pair with top kicker. There are only two hands you have to fear when you have ace king suited playing online poker. You don’t want to be up against aces or kings but even those two situations are not hopeless because you are suited and connected.

Ace king suited is the best pocket connector card combination in Texas Holdem poker. Connector cards are anything in rank sequence that can make for a straight, or if they are of the same suit a straight flush or royal flush.

The ace king is the top connector pair because you always have the best possible straight or flush if it hits. You also dominate other weaker hands that could normally be considered strong.

Anyone holding an ace-queen, ace-jack, king-queen or even a suited queen anything could be in real trouble against you if the flop comes right. They could have the 2nd best hand and that is the worst hand to have at the poker table.

Very often at online poker sites you will see players treat ace king suited with not enough respect. This is a power poker hand that rivals aces and kings.

It can be a superb hand if the flop hits you. It is also a hand that is easy to get away from if you totally miss the flop. A lot of good things can happen with ace king suited and you should almost always play it strongly from any position.
