![]() Kentucky Derby winner Mine That Bird is the 2-1 morning line favorite for the 141st running of Belmont Stakes odds on Saturday with a post time of 6:27pm. Mine That Bird will start from post position #7 and is one of three horses with single-digit lines. Peter Pan Stakes winner Charitable man is 3-1 in Belmont odds and starts just inside of Mine That Bird in post #6. Dunkirk starts from post position #2 and is 4-1. Jockey Calvin Borel will be trying to make history in Saturday’s as he looks to become the first jockey ever to win all three Triple Crown races aboard different horses. Borel won the Kentucky Derby on Mine That Bird and then won the Preakness aboard Rachel Alexandra. "I'm just going to ride it like it comes up, you know," Borel said, "It's nothing different -- just turn left when you get in the turns. It's like any other racetrack. With three races back-to-back like that, you just want him to go into the race happy and I think Chip's got him happy." "So we're to hope for the best and have a good trip and, like I said, I want to thank them for putting me back on the colt and giving me this much time." A horse has not won the Derby and the Belmont in the same year since Thunder Gulch did it in 1995. Saturday’s Belmont Stakes odds will feature a field of 10 horses will be the largest amount of starters since a field of 12 went to the post in 2006. The horse that is expected to go to the lead in Saturday’s race is Charitable Man. He is 3-1 in Belmont Stakes odds and might be tough to catch. The horse is 2 for 2 at Belmont Park and has jockey Alan Garcia who is winning big races on a regular basis and won the Belmont aboard Da’ Tara last year. The horse also has Kiaran McLaughlin who won in 2006 with Jazil. "You have more confidence coming into a race with a horse like this," said Garcia. "Last year we didn't know what Da'Tara would do. He was a long shot. Big Brown was in the race. You don't go in thinking you're going to win." |
