Bluffing in online poker is not as easy as it seems though, so you want to be careful about when you choose to try it. Online poker bluffing can be even more dangerous because you are playing opponents you can’t see. As you play Texas Holdem and are considering a bluff there are a few things you need to consider. The thing to decide first and foremost is whether the table you are playing at is susceptible to a bluff. That means you should already know whether the table is loose or tight and obviously you want to know whether you are playing Limit or No-Limit Holdem. Bluffs work much better at tight tables than they do at loose tables, and this is very true in online poker. If you are playing a low-limit online poker game then bluffing doesn’t work very well, because it is just another dollar or two to call, and most people will do that. In higher limit games, especially no-limit holdem games, bluffing works better. You also need to understand your opponents. It is more difficult to bluff weak players than it is to bluff strong ones. Keep in mind that bluffs just don’t work very well at loose tables when you are playing online because it is almost a given that someone is going to call you. The reason for that is because weak players don’t know any better than to call your bluff.
The next question to ask yourself before trying the bluff at online poker sites is how many people you are up against. The more people that are in the hand the worse your chances of pulling off the bluff are going to be. For you to win the hand everyone has to fold and that gets more difficult with more players in the hand. The bluff also works better in late position. If you are in late position and everyone checks, you have a decent chance of pulling off a bluff by making a bet. Another point in regards to online poker bluffing is your style of play. If you are known as a tight player that plays few hands, bluffing will work better. If you are known as a loose player, bluffing is much harder to pull off. If you are a tight player and get into a hand, most people will fold to you unless they have a very good hand. If you are a loose player, they will be far more likely to call your bluff because they know you play every hand. Keep these things in mind the next time you try bluffing when playing Texas Holdem at online poker sites.
