![]() The 93rd Indianapolis 500 on Sunday at 1:00pm EST on ABC could be one of the most competitive ones in recent years. There are eight drivers that have Indy 500 odds of 10-1 or less led by the polesitter Helio Castroneves who is 3-1. In seven of the last eight years one of three teams (Penske, Ganassi or Andretti) has won in Indy 500 odds. The Indianapolis 500 has to start with Team Penske. They have won the race 14 times since 1972 and they have two drivers in the top two spots in Castroneves and Ryan Briscoe. Castroneves has won this race twice in Indy 500 odds (2001 and 2002) and he is a deserving favorite. He has returned to Indy Car racing after being found not guilty on tax evasion charges. Castroneves is definitely happy to be back. "It has been very special, no question about it," Castroneves said. "I mean to be sitting on the pole position; obviously I did not think about it. In those moments it was just (hoping) to be back racing." His teammate Ryan Briscoe should be right with him for most of the race and either driver could take the title on Sunday. On the outside of the front row is 2007 Indy 500 winner Dario Franchitti. He returns to Indy Car after failing at NASCAR. Indy Cars have been good to Franchitti and he is definitely a threat to win this year’s race from the outside of Row 1. "It has worked out pretty well," Franchitti said. "It's a long day and if I get ahead of these guys in the first corner, it doesn't really matter that much." Indy 500 odds at SBG Global sportsbook have Helio Castroneves a +300 favorite in Indianapolis 500 odds for betting on the Indy 500. The second row has Graham Rahal on the inside, last year’s Indy 500 odds winner Scott Dixon in the middle and Tony Kanaan on the outside. This is definitely an interesting row since Rahal is the son of three-time winner Bobby Rahal while Dixon is the defending champ and Kanaan is the best driver to have never won the race. The front two rows have a lot of talented drivers but someone from the back could still win this race. Marco Andretti starts eighth and his Indy 500 odds are dropping. His teammate Danica Patrick starts 10th and she always gets attention, deserved or not, in Indianapolis 500 odds. A couple of longshots in Indy 500 odds that could make some noise include 2002 winner Paul Tracy and 2005 winner Dan Wheldon. |
