March Madness odds makers have Connecticut -6.5 point favorites against Purdue with a total of 134. “It’s pretty impressive,” Purdue head coach Matt Painter said about Connecticut’s first two games. “After we won the Big Ten Tournament, I told our team, every team in the NCAA Tournament is a good team. And for them to play two teams in the NCAA Tournament and have that kind of margin of victory, really just speaks volumes about their overall team. It gives us a lot of clips to show out players, I’ll tell you that.” Purdue has slipped by their two opponents in the NCAA Tournament, winning against Northern Iowa and Washington. JaJuan Johnson has been superb and if he can keep Thabeet in control then the Boilermakers might have a shot. Purdue is even more of a defensive team than Connecticut. The Boilermakers want to keep the game low scoring and they should be able to do this against the Huskies. Purdue is just 2-7 this year when opponents score 65 points or more. Purdue also needs Robbie Hummel to score as he provides help for Johnson and E’Twaun Moore. Vegas odds at the Hilton sportsbook have the Huskies -7 point favorites in college basketball odds against Purdue with a betting total of 135. The Connecticut Huskies have been the most impressive team in the NCAA Tournament so far winning easily against Chattanooga and Texas A&M. The Huskies had to deal with Jim Calhoun’s illness in the first round and now they have to deal with a recruiting scandal before this Sweet Sixteen game in March Madness odds against the Purdue Boilermakers at 7:10pm EST on CBS. The Huskies are extremely talented with center Hasheem Thabeet, guard A.J. Price and forward Jeff Adrien. Connecticut is a great rebounding and defensive team and when Price is scoring they are very tough to stop. The only weakness Connecticut has is when Thabeet gets into foul trouble.
