![]() A key NFL matchup in the AFC East is on tap for Sunday at 1:00pm EST on CBS as the Miami Dolphins (6-4) host the New England Patriots (6-4). Both teams sit at 6-4 and in position to challenge for a playoff spot. The winner could be well on their way while the loser could be in trouble. The first time these two teams met this season the Dolphins ended the Patriots long winning streak, coming away with their first road win in almost two years. Miami comes into Sunday’s game having won four straight and six of their last eight overall. Odds makers have the Dolphins -1 point favorites at home in NFL odds against the Patriots with a total of 42. The Dolphins and Patriots are just a game back of first place New York in the AFC East and both teams are tied with the Ravens and Colts for Wild Card spots in the AFC. The Dolphins have been finding ways to win each week including last week against Oakland when rookie Dan Carpenter hit the game winning field goal with just 38 seconds left. "We keep putting ourselves in these dogfights," said linebacker Joey Porter, "You don't want them to come back and bite you. When you've got a team down, you've got to figure out how to put them away. Having last-second wins is not something you want to be hoping for every time." The Dolphins are in position to make the playoffs just a year after going 1-15. "This is why we do what we do. We put ourselves in position to have a big game at home at the end of November. That's where we are," head coach Tony Sparano said. "That being said, I don't think too much has to be said this week." The Patriots are coming off a 34-31 loss to the Jets last week that knocked them out of first place. Quarterback Matt Cassel threw for 400 yards but the defense couldn’t stop the Jets. "We dug ourselves too much of a hole and when we really needed to stop them in overtime, we didn't make enough plays," defensive lineman Richard Seymour said. New England could have problems this week in Miami against a Dolphins team they just don’t beat very often in Florida. New England is 8-29 all-time in South Florida and they are only 3-2 there the last two seasons when they were great and the Dolphins were struggling. Vegas NFL odds at Caesars sportsbook have the Dolphins -1.5 point NFL betting favorites with a total of 42 in Week 12 NFL odds.
