Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 Odds – Auto Parts 500 Betting Odds

Auto Parts 500 - 3:00pm EST on ABC

There are only two races left in the Sprint Cup Chase and Carl Edwards is sure making it exciting for Sunday’s Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 odds in Phoenix at 3:00pm EST on ABC. In the closing NASCAR betting races of the Chase, Edwards has won back to back races earning 77 points and shortening the 186 point lead held by Jimmie Johnson down to 106. Auto Parts 500 odds at Bodog sportsbook have the Sprint Cup Chase leader Jimmie Johnson as the 4/1 NASCAR betting favorite over Edwards 5/1 in Checker O’Reilly Auto Parts 500 odds.

Johnson is favored in Auto Parts 500 odds even though Edwards has won the past two races because Johnson is the defending champion at Phoenix and Edwards has never won at Phoenix. In Sprint Cup Chase history, there has never been a driver able to come back and win the championship from the position that Edwards sits in and no NASCAR driver has ever lost the lead with only two races left on the Chase schedule but Johnson isn’t so optimistic. "There's been a race the whole time," Johnson said. "You just never know what's going to happen." With Edward’s winning the past two races, he has built a 149-point lead over Greg Biffle who is third in the Chase point standings. Auto Parts 500 odds at Bodog sportsbook have Biffle 12/1 in NASCAR betting odds.

Johnson will start from the pole on Sunday at Phoenix with a lap of 26.721 seconds (134.725 mph) followed by Jamie McMurray 50/1, Kurt Busch 30/1, David Reutimann 100/1 and Dale Earnhardt Jr. 12/1 closing out the top five. Edwards will start the Auto Parts 500 in 15th and Biffle back in 31st. "My goal is to outrun those guys," Johnson said. "My goal's to win the race, try to lead the most laps, gain points on those guys so that we go to Homestead with as many points as we can. That's truthfully the goal. I hope it works that way. No telling it will. But that's what we're working on." Jeff Gordon will start in the seventh position and is still looking for his first win of the 2008 season on the Phoenix track he has only won once at back in April of 2007. Auto Parts 500 odds at Bodog sportsbook have Jeff Gordon at 15/1 in NASCAR betting odds.

Gordon is optimistic about the final two races but is also realistic even after finishing runner-up in last weekend’s Dickies 500 and knowing that mathematically the #24 Chevrolet team is still in the race to catch Johnson. "That's highly unlikely to occur, especially with how well the 48 team has been running," said Gordon. "I feel like we are continuing to improve, and that's our focus for the remainder of the year. We want that to continue so we have some sort of momentum heading into the offseason and maybe gain some more positions in the standings." Bodog sportsbook is offering Auto Parts 500 odds on drivers finishing in the top three with Johnson 23/20, Edwards 7/5, Kyle Busch 2/1and Greg Biffle 17/5.
