Playing Bad Online Poker Hands

Bad Poker HandsWhen playing Texas Holdem at online poker sites you are going to be dealt a lot of bad online poker hands. That is just part of the game. How you play these bad poker hands goes a long way in determining whether you win or lose money.

Usually if you play strong hands and avoid bad hands you will win more money, but it is not always that simple.

You should remember at online poker sites that certain hands that play well in Limit Holdem are too risky and too vulnerable in No-Limit Holdem.

In Limit Holdem, you can make just an extra bet or two to call a raise while in No-Limit you can be risking your entire stack. Decent hands in Limit are worth hanging on to because the pot odds are probably going to be good.

That is not usually the case with bad online poker hands in No-Limit.

No Limit Holdem at online poker sites is very often a game of strength, not weakness. Players with strong hands are going to play them strong. In No Limit Holdem it is often too expensive to draw to the straight or to the flush.

Suited hands such as ace-queen or king-jack that are on the list of playable hands in Limit Holdem are not as valuable in a large No-Limit Texas Holdem poker game. Those hands are quite vulnerable, can be extremely expensive to continue with trying to hit something and should be considered bad online poker hands.

Good pocket hands are critical in No-Limit Holdem poker because pressure can be put on you in an instant. You can’t go playing bad poker hands in No-Limit because you will end up throwing money away.

For example, let’s say you have 9-10 suited as your starting poker hand. In Limit Holdem you can limp in or possibly call a raise hoping to hit the flop. In No-Limit it is much more difficult, if not impossible to call any type of large raise.

Your pot odds are just not worthwhile and you have to fold. This reasonable hand turns into a bad hand in No-Limit because it can’t take a raise. That is why a lot of hands turn into bad ones when facing pressure. It is how you play these bad poker hands that can determine your bottom line.

When you get a bad online poker hand in Limit Holdem you can sometimes see a flop cheaply and get lucky. That luxury rarely happens in No-Limit. You must remember with most bad poker hands to fold them. It is really that simple.

The problem is that many players just won’t do it. It is still the right thing to fold them in Limit as well as No-Limit but at least the mistake is not fatal in Limit because you can’t lose as much money.
