![]() We are only hours away from kick off of the 2008 NFL betting season with the Redskins and Giants on Thursday September 4th at 7:00pm EST on NBC. That means NFL betting odds for the AFC and NFC conferences as well as AFC and NFC divisional NFL odds will soon close. In terms of NFL betting odds for AFC West division, the odds have remained fairly consistent since the end of NFL preseason games and will probably close at the same lines. The AFC West division consists of the Kansas City Chiefs, Oakland Raiders, San Diego Chargers and Denver Broncos. Many NFL handicapping experts are picking the Chargers to win the AFC West division but don’t count out the Denver Broncos. The Kansas City Chiefs will open the 2008 NFL betting season with new head coach Herman Edwards against the Patriots on Sunday September 7th at 1:00pm EST on CBS, and we all know how that scenario is going to play out. We expect the Chiefs to follow up their performance against the Patriots with a dismal season probably finishing last in AFC West betting. The Oakland Raiders start their NFL schedule against the Denver Broncos for Monday Night Football on September 8th at 10:15pm EST on ESPN. The Raiders were only able to manage 4 wins from last season and we don’t expect them to do much better this year. Look for the Oakland Raiders to finish in third just above the Chiefs in AFC West betting. The San Diego Chargers have been the upper echelon of the AFC West and are the clear favorites once again in AFC West betting odds. Last season the Chargers went 5-1 in the AFC West and there are no signs that this year will be any different. Expect the Chargers to finish the season with 12 wins and the AFC West division title. The Denver Broncos could be the sleeper in AFC West betting odds. Jay Cutler had a great preseason and has given the fans in Denver hope after letting them down for the past two seasons. The Broncos will need to tighten up the defense and learn to convert high yard totals into touchdowns but if they can pull it together early; we might see the Broncos holding the AFC West title instead of the Chargers. |
