Cowboys at Browns - Sept 7th 4:15pm EST.

If you are a fan of the Dallas Cowboys or the Cleveland Browns then you should be happy this NFL betting season as both teams are going to be on national television a lot. The Cowboys always seen to be the popular NFL betting team with the public and the Browns are the chic pick of many NFL football betting experts. Dallas finished last season 13-3 straight up and 9-7 against the NFL betting pointspread. The Cowboys were 4-4 against the spread on the road last season. Although the Cowboys won 13 games, last season was a failure as they lost in the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

Many NFL betting experts are looking at Dallas as the NFC Super Bowl favorite but Tony Romo has yet to win a playoff game and head coach Wade Phillips has never been known for his coaching ability. The Cowboys did add Adam Jones in a trade with the Titans and signed Zach Thomas in free agency from Miami. Cleveland wasn’t expected to do anything last year but surprised everyone to go 10-6 and just miss the playoffs. The Browns were a super 12-4 versus the NFL odds including a sizzling 7-1 at home. Quarterback Derek Anderson came from nowhere to have a great season while Jamal Lewis proved he can still run the ball effectively. The question this season is whether the team improved enough defensively to avoid playing high scoring shootouts and whether or not Anderson was a one-year wonder at quarterback.

The good news for Cleveland is that Braylon Edwards looks like a superstar at receiver and that the team added DT Corey Williams from Green Bay and Pro Bowl DT Shaun Rogers from Detroit to upgrade the defense. Cleveland did not play well in the preseason and Anderson suffered a concussion but he is expected to play in the opener. The hype surrounding the Browns has been overwhelming leading up to the game versus Dallas and the pressure may be too much for Cleveland. It doesn’t help the Browns that their NFL schedule is brutal, especially early. Dallas went over in 10 of their 16 games last season according to NFL betting stats including six of their eight road games. Cleveland was 4-3-1 to the over last season at home according to NFL betting stats. The two teams rarely meet in the regular season with the last time being in 2004 when the Cowboys won 19-12 as a five point home favorite in NFL odds.
