Notre Dame StadiumThe luck of the Irish has seemed to go over the rainbow for the Notre Dame football team over the past seasons end definitely after losing Brady Quinn to the NFL.

The Irish finished the 2007 college football season only 3-9 straight up and didn’t make it to a bowl game for the 4th straight year.

The 2008 Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have Charlie Weis in his 4th season as head coach and experience with 16 returning starters on the field this season.

Notre Dame went 5-7 against the spread in college football betting odds and 3-9 in over/unders. The Irish averaged only 167 passing yards and a miserable 75.3 rushing yards per game while allowing opponents 161.6 passing yards and 195.9 rushing per game.

College football betting odds to win the 2008-2009 BCS National Championship at BetUS sportsbook have Notre Dame +6500.

Vegas odds to win the 2009 BCS National Game have Notre Dame at 100/1.

College football odds for 2008-2009 regular season wins on Notre Dame at BetUS sportsbook have the Fighting Irish at 7, -120 over and -120 under.

2008 Notre Dame Offense

Hopefully the Irish will be able to get things going this year on offense with 9 returning starters led by sophomore quarterback Jimmy Clausen. The running back position will have 3 experienced players including junior James Aldridge.

The receiving crew will look to improve on last season’s 167 passing yards per game with sophomore Duval Kamara, junior Robby Parris and senior David Grimes.

A definite positive for Notre Dame betting fans will be the offensive line. The big men will feature 4 returning starters including junior right tackle Sam Young and sophomore Dan Wenger filling it out at center.

2008 Notre Dame Defense

Everything will depend on the Irish defense this season with 7 returning starters but will also need to fill holes at the end and linebacker positions. Experience from junior John Ryan, senior Justin Brown and senior Maurice Crum will be much needed for a young but talented crew.

The secondary unit will only be missing one player from last year’s squad and will return with junior Kyle McCarthy at strong safety, senior Terrail Lambert and junior Darrin Walls at the corners and senior David Bruton at free safety spot.

2008 Notre Dame Prediction

No matter how bad the past college football betting seasons have been, Notre Dame will still be heavily favored to win the Independent conference in college football odds. The Irish will have a difficult schedule playing Michigan and Purdue at home, and then closing out the season at Southern California on November 29th. The only safe college football odds we see worth betting on would be the under 7 regular season wins.
