NFL Preseason Betting – Cleveland Browns at New York Giants

Browns and GiantsThe New York Giants play a home game for the first time since last December as they host the Cleveland Browns in NFL preseason betting on Monday night. The Giants won all of their playoff games last season on the road and played at Detroit last week in their preseason opener.

The Giants looked rusty last week against the Lions, losing 13-10 as 3 point underdogs in NFL preseason betting. Eli Manning was just 2 of 6 for 19 yards in limited time. “It’s the first preseason game,” head coach Tom Coughlin said. “You’d like to win them all, but we didn’t win. The idea is improving between the first and second game.”

Both backup quarterbacks, David Carr and Anthony Wright did play well though as they battle for the second string quarterback job behind Manning. Wide receivers Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer did not play last week and are doubtful for Monday’s game.

The Giants are also without Super Bowl hero David Tyree while Steve Smith and rookie Mario Manningham are also questionable for this week 2 NFL preseason betting game.

Cleveland opened up the NFL preseason last week by losing to the New York Jets 24-20 as 3.5 point preseason betting favorites. The Browns blew a 20-10 fourth quarter lead in that game and head coach Romeo Crennel was not very happy.

"There was some good, some bad, but ultimately we still lost the game." he said. Starting quarterback Derek Anderson played briefly and completed 4 of 5 passes including a TD throw to Braylon Edwards. Brady Quinn also played well in relief. Edwards will not play this week against the Giants after suffering a cut on his foot that required stitches.

Monday’s NFL preseason betting game could be very bland and boring considering the two teams will meet in the regular season in October, so they may not want to show much in this preseason game.

NFL preseason betting stats show that the Giants have an 8-7 advantage in the all-time preseason series against Cleveland. The last preseason meeting was in 2005 when the Giants lost 17-14 to the Browns.

Fans of the Cleveland Browns will get to see a lot of them this season. The Browns are on prime-time television at least five times this season, not including Monday’s preseason game.
