If you rarely use the poker bluff, then getting any extra action is not going to happen for you very many times. As we begin to talk about poker bluffing in Texas holdem poker, you must remember that we are not going to win every time we bluff. For every poker bluff we win, there are going to be a few that we don’t. Poker bluffs work best when there are only one or two other people left in the hand. You also need to be aware of the type of players you are up against. You definitely want to bluff more against the average player. If you bluff against a poor player they are probably going to call you. Usually that is a bad thing for you. Poor players will call a lot of hands and see them through. Bluffs just don’t work very well on them. Bluffing against good poker players can work well, but you need to mix up your play. Remember that the best players to bluff against are the average players, those that are not great, but not poor either. The biggest weapon a person has when bluffing in poker is the semi-bluff. The semi-bluff is where you are bluffing, but it is a bluff where you can draw out to make your hand if you get called. With a total poker bluff, your only chance of winning is if your opponent folds. With the semi-bluff you have a chance to win the hand even if you get called. That is what makes it much more powerful than the total bluff. As you develop your own poker strategy you are definitely going to want to include bluffing as part of it. A poker bluff is one area of poker strategy that will make you look very good at times and very bad at other times. Don’t get ruffled, it’s just part of Texas holdem poker. Sometimes you are going to make a poker bluff at a great time, while other times the bluff will look foolish. If you are good at bluffing in poker, then you will usually make other players at the table take notice of your play.
