NFL Hall of Fame, Canton OhioThe summer months are the slowest times of the year for any NFL betting fanatic as there is only Canadian or Arena football to wager on unless you want to get crazy and bet on NFL Europa. Fortunately we are in the beginning of August which means the annual NFL Preseason Hall of Fame Game will be played in Canton Ohio on Sunday August 3rd. It is a tradition that the Hall of Fame game is played one day after the newest class of NFL legends are ushered through the halls of Canton.

The 2008 Hall of Fame inductees include defensive end Fred Dean, cornerback Darrell Green, wide receiver Art Monk, cornerback Emmitt Thomas, linebacker Andre Tippett and tackle Gary Zimmerman.

With the ceremony out of the way, Hall of Fame NFL odds will see the Indianapolis Colts vs. the Washington Redskins on NBC at 8:00pm EST. Early Hall of Fame betting odds at BetUs sportsbook had the Redskins -5.5 but since then the pointspread has moved to -6 days before the game and now the public is pounding the Colts driving the line back down to Redskins -4.5 in Hall of Fame game odds.

Please be sure to view our live preseason week 1 NFL odds page for game rotation number and updated NFL preseason odds.

The Redskins do have history on their side with a perfect 4-0 Hall of Fame Game record while the Colts only hold a .500 record going 2-1 in their last three NFL preseason betting appearances. The 2008 Hall of Fame game will be a debut for the Redskins new head coach Jim Zorn who accepted the position after Joe Gibbs retired last season.

The Indianapolis Colts were a decent team for NFL betting in 2007 finishing the year 9-7 against the spread and 7-9 in over/unders. Although they finished the year 13-3 straight up, they lost their chance for another Super Bowl in the playoffs.

BetUs sportsbook has the Colts -160 as the overwhelming favorite in NFL preseason betting odds to win the 2008 AFC South and +750 to win Super Bowl XLII.

+4.5 | Redskins -4.5
Total 31.5

Vegas odds to win Super Bowl XLIII have the Indianapolis Colts at 6/1 and the Washington Redskins at 25/1.

The Washington Redskins have been through numerous changes in the past few years and now welcome the addition of Jason Taylor in 2008.

Taylor will drastically help the Redskins defense which allowed 19.4 points and over 200 passing yards per game.

The Redskins went 7-7-2 against the spread and closed the season with a 9-7 straight up record. BetUs sportsbook has the Redskins +600 in NFL preseason betting odds to win the 2008 NFC East and +4000 to win Super Bowl XLII.

The rest of week 1 NFL preseason betting odds will then get underway on Thursday August 7th, with the reigning Super Bowl champion Giants vs. Lions at 7:00pm EST, Ravens vs. Patriots, Jets vs. Browns, Saints vs. Cardinals on ESPN at 8:00pm EST and Chiefs vs. Bears.

Hall of Fame Betting Prediction

As it is the first preseason game, I don't expect to see much of anyone important playing for longer than a few snaps or drives which gives Washington the advantage. It will be interesting to see where the preseason betting line on the Hall of Fame game will end up just before kickoff. Expect the public to ride the powerful Colts on the road driving the betting odds down. Watch the Hall of Fame odds carefully and take the Redskins just before game time.

There shouldn't be too many points in this game and with a 4-0 Hall of Fame record, smart money will be on the Redskins. Be sure to view Hall of Fame betting odds for NFL preseason week 1 from our recommend sportsbooks and research our NFL matchups before betting on Hall of Fame odds.
