Ponson is 6-1 on the MLB betting season with a 4.02 ERA for New York while Lester is 8-3 with a 3.20 ERA for the Red Sox. Ponson has been a nice surprise for the Yankees. He has been solid in most of his starts but the pressure will be ratcheted up a notch at Fenway. Jon Lester has been great lately for Boston and MLB betting by shutting down the Mariners in his last start, throwing 7 1/3 shutout innings, striking out six and walking none. Lester also shutout the Yankees back on July 3rd at Yankee Stadium. He is 4-1 at home this MLB betting season with a 2.93 ERA and will definitely need to continue riding that wave after Boston and Tim Wakefield lost yesterday’s game to Andy Pettitte and the Yankees 10-3 as -115 home favorites in MLB odds. SBGGlobal sportsbook usually has the best MLB matchups and it will be interesting to see what the MLB odds are for Sunday’s 8:05pm EST game on ESPN with Lester pitching especially after yesterday’s loss. Whatever the MLB betting odds are, when the Yankees and Red Sox get together it is always a major event, especially when both are fighting to make the MLB playoffs. "We're starting to get to the point of the season where it's kind of do-or-die and I'm sure the fans realize that too.” Red Sox closer Jonathan Papelbon said, "The race is going to start. It should be fun. It's always fun playing at home. Hopefully it will be just like a little charge of electricity for us." "The guys feel good about themselves," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said, "I like the way our club is playing and we've been hitting outstanding and pitching great. We just need to keep the momentum going." Boston is well aware that New York is not going anywhere. "They're not going away," Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia said. "They have too many great players on their team to be out of this race. It's going to come down to the end -- us, the Yankees and the Rays. We'll have our hands full. It will be a nice series when we come back to Boston. It will be great to see our fans again and get Fenway going." |
