Oklahoma Sooners StadiumIf you are an Oklahoma Sooners fan you love the regular season but hate the bowl games. The Sooners have won back-to-back Big 12 titles but they have lost their last four BCS bowl games. The 2007 Fiesta Bowl ended in a disappointing overtime loss against Boise State 43-42. College football betting odds put the Sooners as 7.5 point favorites. Last season the Oklahoma Sooners finished 11-3 straight up and 7-7 versus college football odds.

“In the end, you have to go at it again,” said coach Bob Stoops. “I will say we have been pretty consistent in going after the Big 12 championship, and we look to do that again next year.”

Oklahoma will be led by exciting quarterback Sam Bradford who had a fantastic freshman season. Bradford threw for 36 touchdowns and over 3,000 yards in 2007 and led an offense that scored over 42 points per game for college football odds. Oklahoma returns 8 starters on offense and 6 on defense.

Last year, Oklahoma went 7-7 against the spread in college football betting odds and 7-7 in over/unders. The Sooners averaged 263.7 passing yards and 193.9 rushing yards per game while allowing opponents 233.2 passing and 91.4 rushing yards per game.

Sooner betting odds to win the 2009 BCS National Championship at BetUS sportsbook have the Oklahoma Sooners +750 and +150 in college football odds to win the Big 12 Conference. College football odds for 2008 regular season wins at BetUS sportsbook have the Sooners at 10, -115 over and -125 under.

Vegas odds to win the 2009 BCS National Game have the Oklahoma Sooners at 6/1.

2008 Oklahoma Sooners Offense

The offense has Bradford throwing the ball all over the field and running back DeMarco Murray stretching defenses. Oklahoma does lose wide receiver Malcolm Kelly who left for the NFL but they still have great weapons on offense that can impact college football betting odds. Murray is an explosive runner that can break a run off at any time.

The Sooners also have Chris Brown and top recruit Jermie Calhoun who could see playing time this season. Losing Kelly hurts the receiving corps but tight end Jermaine Gresham is a star and Juaquin Iglesias led the team with 68 catches last season.

The Sooners return all five starters upfront so the offense is going to be very good and impact college football odds on a weekly basis.

2008 Oklahoma Sooners Defense

The defense has big time talent up front with Gerald McCoy and DeMarcus Granger in the middle. Auston English finished 15th in the country with 9.5 sacks a year ago from his end position. The linebackers are hurting though, especially after losing Curtis Lofton to the NFL. The Sooners will need junior college transfers to make an impact.

Both cornerbacks and a safety must also be replaced. The good news is that Lendy Holmes and Nic Harris are back and Dominique Franks looks like a star that could impact college football betting numbers.

2008 Oklahoma Sooners Prediction

The Oklahoma Sooners are loaded on offense and the defense should be good enough to get them by early in the season versus the college football betting number. The key will be how well the defense develops before the October match up against Texas. That is really the toughest game on the schedule.

The Sooners probably will be favored in college football odds in every game this season and they could be the surprise team in college football betting that plays into the BCS title game.
