2008 Georgia Bulldogs Betting Odds and Schedule

Georgia Bulldogs StadiumThe Georgia Bulldogs are the #1 team in many college football preseason polls around the country. Last season Georgia finished 11-2 straight up and 8-4 against the college football betting point spread.

The 2007 Bulldogs season was meant to be a year that would show the Georgia football team what to build on. Instead the Bulldogs went 11-2 and won a BCS Bowl game against Hawaii as -7.5 point favorites in college football odds; Georgia won by 31.

So I guess the only thing left to work on is getting to the BCS title game.

College football betting oddsmakers have noticed that Georgia is returning 17 starters from last year including Heisman Trophy candidate Knowshon Moreno and quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Last year, Georgia went 8-4 against the spread in college football odds and 5-7 in over/unders. The Bulldogs averaged 200.3 passing yards and 178.8 rushing yards per game while allowing opponents 205.2 passing and 119.5 rushing yards per game.

Early college football odds to win the 2009 BCS National Championship at Bodog sportsbook have the Bulldogs as a favorite at 5/1 and 2/1 in college football odds to win the SEC Conference.

Vegas odds to win the 2009 BCS National Game have the Georgia Bulldogs at 8/1.

2008 Georgia Bulldogs Offense

Moreno had 1,334 yards and 14 touchdowns last season as a freshman while Stafford is thought of as one of the top quarterbacks in the country. Stafford has thrown a lot of interceptions the past two seasons which has hurt Georgia in covering the college football betting odds but coaches have worked in the off-season with his fundamentals and most people believe he is poised for a big season in 2008.

The question mark on the offense for college football betting gamblers to look at is upfront as four of the five starters on the offensive line must be replaced. The receivers are solid with Mohamed Massauoi, Tripp Chandler and Michael Moore.

2008 Georgia Bulldogs Defense

The Georgia defense only gave up 323. 2 yards per game last year, ranking 14th in the country and nearly everyone is back to impact college football betting odds. Junior defensive tackle Geno Atkins is the star upfront while Justin Houston could be a star as a redshirt freshman. The secondary returns three of the four starters including cornerbacks Asher Allen and Prince Miller. The new starter looks to be Reshad Jones at free safety.

2008 Georgia Bulldogs Odds Prediction

Georgia has the talent to win a National Championship and impact college football betting odds with Moreno and Stafford, plus Mark Richt is an excellent coach. The problem for the Bulldogs and for gamblers that follow them in college football betting is the schedule. They have road games at Auburn, South Carolina, LSU and Arizona State plus the annual game against Florida in Jacksonville.

The Bulldogs are very talented and will be favored most of the time in college football odds but expect their schedule to keep them from reaching the BCS title game.
