Griffin Upsets Jackson in UFC 86 Betting

UFC 86 -Quinton Jackson and Forrest GriffinThe UFC 86 main event between Quinton “Rampage” Jackson and Forrest Griffin actually lived up to it’s billing on Saturday night as Griffin scored a unanimous decision to win the UFC light-heavyweight title.

Jackson was more than a 2-1 favorite in UFC betting and although he lost, he gave fans a fight to remember. A sellout crowd of 11,172 watched UFC 86 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas and for the most part they were very pleased.

The loss by Jackson was about the only disappointment in terms of UFC odds. All of the other favorites in UFC betting were winners.

The other main event in UFC betting had middleweight Patrick “The Predator” Cote winning a split decision over Ricardo “Big Dog” Almeida.

"It's a big win for me," said Cote, "This win will change my life." In other UFC betting results it was Joe Stevenson defeating Gleison Tibau as he caught Tibau in a choke hold that forced him to submit late in the second round.

Josh Koscheck dominated Chris Lytle to win a popular UFC betting unanimous decision. Tyson Griffin was never threatened and won easily in a unanimous decision over Marcus Aurelio.

In preliminary bouts it was Gabriel Gonzaga getting a quick hold against Justin McCully, forcing him to submit in the first round. Cole Miller got Jorge Gurgel to submit late in the third round with a triangle choke hold, Melvin Guillard knocked out Dennis Siver early in the first round and Justin Buchholz was the winner in UFC odds against Corey Hill as he won with a choke hold late in the second round.

The bout between Jackson and Griffin was so popular among fans and UFC betting gamblers that a rematch could be in the cards. "I think we're going to have to do that again. And that sucks for me," Griffin said.

Jackson showed a lot of heart in his defeat. He was hit with a kick in the second round that really had him fighting on one leg the remainder of the fight.

"He threw me a whammy, hurt my leg. That's what messed me up," Jackson said, "I've fought K-1 fights and guys didn't do that, he just did something good. Hell, I'm going to watch the tape and see how he did that. I'm going to start kicking folks right there. That was a good strategy right there and he was smart, he went back to it."

The judges scored the fight with Griffin winning three rounds while Jackson won two. Jackson thought he did enough to win but the judges did not agree. "I feel like if you're the champ, somebody got to beat the champ. But it was unanimous. I'm not a judge."
